Leeds Festival 2014

Last weekend I was lucky enough to go to Leeds festival after winning a ticket from work and I'm still in shock that it all happened to be honest. I've wanted to go to festival for years but it's never happened and when I heard that Arctic Monkeys were headliners this year I wanted to cry when I couldn't get anyone to go with me. So when I was given a ticket and got to go with one of my best friends it all felt a bit surreal.

I didn't get many pictures as I only took my iPhone and the battery just couldn't hack it, but I thought I would share a couple of the pictures that I did get.

Sunday morning sunrise, because apparently it's impossible to sleep in a tent after the sun has come up even when you've only had 3 hours sleep *cries* .. but it was a pretty view to wake up to
Festival selfie (I couldn't resist)
You can't see them but this was at the Imagine Dragons set which was all kinds of amazing
So we tried a kangaroo burger and a venison burger and I'm still not sure how I morally feel about that, but to be honest they both just tasted like beef
The Arctic Monkeys set where my dreams came true and I fangirled with no shame.
*Cliché wristband pic*
My ootd for the sunday (this dress is now christened The Arctic Monkeys Dress) including a gorgeous Motel Rocks dress (here) and some very muddy wellies
I'm really happy that I got to have a go at the festival experience and I learnt that I am actually pretty good at setting up a tent and making campfires, so in your face to everyone that laughed at the idea of me roughing it! I was worried that I'd be a bit of a princess but I honestly enjoyed it all (except the toilets, the toilets are not exaggerated) and I would be so up for going to a festival again. The whole atmosphere was amazing, seeing all the different kinds of people and all the different styles and of course the music (but more on the music later, that needs it's own post).

Those doors won't open while you stand and watch them

Dress Topshop
Boots Primark
Frilly socks Topshop

First off I apologise for the terrible quality of the photo, I've been home for the past couple of days and all I had was my iPhone camera. Oh and I'm also sorry about my messy bedroom background, my mother would be ashamed of that unmade bed! Now for the outfit, I wore this dress out the other night for a film night that a couple of my friends from work had organised. They were showing a few different independent short films and it was a really cool and interesting night. As for the dress, this Topshop beauty is one of my favourite items in my wardrobe at the moment, it's easy to wear, to dress up or down and it's a lovely statement piece. I love these cute little faux-suede ankle boots too, they're just from Primark but they're lasting well and I know I'll be gutted when they do start to fall apart.

I've been pretty awful with blogging over the last month and if I'm honest I've just had no motivation. Since moving into the flat and receiving all my official results and certificates from university it's sunk in that it's all over. I am excited for the next chapter of my life but it's still been a bit overwhelming and I have been a wimp this last month and hidden from it all. Now it's a new month and I'm ready to start pushing myself and to get myself sorted and that includes getting back into regular posting on here too. So here's to August and the rest of the summer, let's make it something special.

Plaid shirt days and nights

Shirt Primark / Vest top Primark / Bodycon skirt New Look / Plimsolls George @ Asda
Well hello bitch face, believe it or not I was trying to smile here but my face has a talent of looking miserable 87% of the time! I just threw this outfit on the other day when the sun was shining and I wanted something simple. I do have a soft spot for a red checkered shirt, such an indie cliché but a wardrobe staple none the less. I picked this oversized shirt up from Primark ages ago but it has survived every wardrobe sort out because it's just so versatile. I liked the laid back look with it tied around my waist and it was flattering too.

As this post goes live I will be going into the final hurdle of my degree as I have my viva for my dissertation. After that it will all be over and in three weeks I should know my degree classification. I am starting to feel the nerves and I just wish results day would hurry up as I hate waiting for my marks. After tomorrow though I will have done all that I can and what will be will be, which whilst scary will mean the pressure can finally be lifted. So I am going to stop procrastinating and go and do my final prep. Good luck to anyone else waiting for their results this summer!

Abbey Road Crossing

Tee H&M / High waisted jeans Primark / Watch George @ Asda / Lipstick MUA Shade 2
Ok so I took the outfit photos for this is a hurry because I thought I was going to be late for work (I wasn't I was an hour early, well done Zöe) and they turned out so messy! Hence the busy background with my coats still on the door and my kinky fringe which just would not straighten. However I love this top so I still wanted to feature it in an outfit post.

This outfit is pretty casual but sometimes you just can't beat a good old band-tee-black-skinnies combo. I picked this Beatles top up from H&M a couple of years ago and although it has shrunk a little bit, it's lasted really well. I just can't resist anything with a Beatles reference, if I'd been around in the sixties (if only!) I would have been one of their crazy fan girls for sure. As for the jeans, they're Primark's dupe for the Joni jeans and I do love them, but they're losing their shape now and aren't as skinny as they once were so I'm seriously in need of a new pair. However they've kept their colour well and they're still my favourite jeans at the moment.

After feeling like I had nothing to do since my dissertation I suddenly have a to-do list the size of arm, as I'm preparing to move out of my student house and find a somewhere new to live before the end of the month. I'm also starting to apply for 'big girl' jobs and trying to make some decisions about what I'm going to do in the future. It's all a bit scary but I'm still really excited. I'd be lying if I said all this is easy, but as my mum keeps telling me: things have a way of working themselves out and there's always a bright side and reason somewhere.

A fresh start

Well Blogland it has been a while since we last spoke. I have been MIA over the last month as I've been finishing my final ever university submission, the dreaded dissertation! The last week since then has been a blur of celebrations, a city break (more on that later) and family trips. However now it is time to start thinking about the future. I will admit that I have no idea what that holds at the moment and I'm currently trying to decide exactly where I'm going to live and start job hunting.

One thing I am sure of is that I am more than ready for a fresh start. There's a lot of change on its way and whilst I will admit that it's all a bit scary I am also very excited. University is over and after a lifetime of always knowing what was next and what I had to do, the future is suddenly looking a lot more vague. I hear people say a lot that after graduation life is a downer, but the way I see it is that now we can choose anything. Okay so maybe I can't choose to be an Olympic ice dancer, but I can choose a new and exciting city to live in and new challenges and new people. I personally think that's all pretty darn cool. As a teenager I feared my twenties, but now I realise that this is when I can really go start going out there and exploring the world and pushing myself.

So you may be wondering where this blog all comes into things and you also may have noticed that I have deleted all of my old blog posts. I decided that it was also time for a fresh start with this little blog of mine. I haven't felt inspired for the past few months and I thought I should try shaking things up a bit. I've given the layout a re-shuffle and I may make a few more changes over the next few weeks until I'm really happy with it. I have some ideas for new posts and I think that now I've finished university I want to put more time into this blog, because I really do enjoy working on it.

So here's to fresh starts, new beginnings and all the opportunities just waiting to be taken. I for one cannot wait to graduate and see what life has in store (even if I have no idea just what it will be yet!)
